Toll road, connecting Tashkent and Samarkand, to be built soon
Principal Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Investments Laziz Kudratov met with the representatives of the Cengiz, Kolin and Kalyon consortium, reports Spot.
At the meeting, the sides discussed the construction of a toll road, which connects Tashkent and Samarkand, on the principles of public-private partnership.
The event was attended by specialists from relevant ministries and agencies, involved in the construction of the new motor road. They made proposals for the future business plan development of the project.
The investment agreement with the Turkish Cengiz, Kolin and Kalyon consortium on the construction of the new toll road was signed during the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Uzbekistan in spring.
Partner of the first “toll road” project is the state committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for roads.
The Turkish contractors say the project will allow motorists to cross the distance between Tashkent and Samarkand in 2 hours.
The parties also discussed how to minimize the impact of the highway on nearby agricultural lands and the environment.
Construction of the “Tashkent-Samarkand toll road” project is planned for 2019-2020.
