“Uzbekistan Railways” to purchase high-speed trains
“Uzbekistan Railways” is conducting negotiations with the South Korean “Hyundai” and Spanish “Talgo” to purchase high-speed trains, the press service of the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
“Uzbekistan Railways is negotiating with the Spanish company Talgo and the Korean company Hyundai to purchase new electric trains in order to provide domestic and foreign tourists with high quality rail transportation services,” the report reads.
In addition, five carriages with a total of 240 seats are currently being repaired and modernized by the JSC “Tashkent Plant for Construction and Repair of Passenger Carriages”.
These carriages will be added to “Sharq” trains and start operating by the end of this month.
The company is also planning to modernize the online ticket purchase system and thus travel agencies will be able to book tickets.
