President of Uzbekistan approves NPP agreement with Russia
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, approved the document on cooperation with the Russian Federation in construction of a nuclear power plant on the territory of Uzbekistan. Its signing took place on September 7, in the capital of Russia by the heads of governments of the two countries, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
The cooperation agreement envisages constructing an NPP that is said to possess two power units utilizing a water-cooled power reactor with a total capacity of 2.4 gigawatts.
It should be noted that the area near Lake Tudakul on the border of Bukhara and Navoi regions had been chosen as a potential site for construction of the NPP.
