Uzbekistan launches production of 3D printers and unique robots

In the Uzbek capital, the production of 3D printers and unique robots has commenced in the techno-park "Yashnabad", Kun.uz correspondent reports.

The initial steps towards creating the techno-park were taken in July 2017, when the presidential decree was signed. Today, ten innovative projects are already functioning here. The main task of the techno-park is to promote innovative entrepreneurship, as well as creating a favorable environment for its development and providing support at all stages of its enhancement.

"At the moment, 10 innovative projects have received the status of residents in our techno-park. It is necessary to have innovative and non-standard components in order to become a resident. Among residents, for example, there are robot manufacturers. One of the products is Adbot, which helps people with navigation, answers questions, broadcasts promotional materials and remembers everyone with whom he communicated,” Farkhod Djumayev, head of the Directorate for Innovative Techno-park “Yashnabad” said.

According to him, such robots are produced for export. However, if there is a need in the domestic market, the company is ready to launch the production of robots for Uzbekistan. In particular, one of the banks has already ordered such robot and now it is at the assembling stage.

Another interesting project is the production of 3D printers, which are new to the Uzbek market. The company Green Code has been producing 3D printers for the domestic market for almost half a year.

“Now we are negotiating with the Ministry of Health about the launch of products for medical universities. For example, a 3D printer can print a figure in the form of a heart, jaw, human skeleton and so on, thus students can practice on ready exhibits. There are many companies across the world who produce 3D printers. But in Uzbekistan, Green Code is the first and unique company for the serial production of such printers. 70% of local raw materials and 30% of imported ones are used in the production. The cost of a simple printer is about 3 million sums,” said Djumayev.

Resident projects of the techno-park can be from different areas: chemical technology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, energy saving, robotics, food industry and so on.

Techno-park is open for all enterprises that have innovative projects. For instance, it can be a release of import-substituting or export-oriented goods. After obtaining the resident status, companies enjoy the benefits and preferences established by the government decree.

Residents of the techno-park are exempted from land tax, income tax, property of legal entities, improvement and development of social infrastructure, single tax and mandatory contributions to the Republican road fund and off-budget Fund for the development of the material-technical base of educational and medical institutions.

In addition, they will be given concessional loans for innovative projects for a period of 7 years, with a 2-year grace period and an interest rate of no more than 50% of the refinancing rate by the Central Bank. They will be provided with production space for the implementation of these initiatives and be supported by the Techno-park directorate.
