IMF representative: external factors affect less in Uzbekistan’s economic development
Uzbekistan can manage alone its economic development in future. It was said by the representative of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Juha Kähkönen at a meeting with Uzbek banks and IMF representatives in Tashkent, Kun.uz correspondent reported.
“Today, the existing external factors affect slightly in the economic development of Uzbekistan. Development is fundamentally dependent on the results of reforms carried out in the country,” Mr. Kähkönen said.
In addition, the IMF representative also drew attention to the fact that Uzbekistan has less external debt than other countries in the region and possesses great significance.
“Anticipated tax reform in Uzbekistan should lead to the expansion of taxpayers, competent and transparent collection of taxes. At the same time, it should not lead to an increase of tax burden on taxpaying organizations and people. Otherwise, the outcome may be the concealment of income,” Juha Kähkönen replied to a question on tax reform.
