Uzbek deputies and journalists to visit Voronezh NPP

Deputies of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and mass media representatives plan to visit the nuclear power plant (NPP) in Voronezh oblast, Russia, the press service of the MFA reported.

“On December 12, 2018, the Uzbek delegation departs for Novovoronezh city of Voronezh oblast (Russia). The delegation consists of deputies of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, news agency “Dunyo”, TV channel “Uzbekistan 24” and journalists of a number of Internet agencies”, the report said.

The delegation will get acquainted with one of the long-established industrial nuclear power plants in the former Soviet Union – Novovoronezh NPP, its activity and experience in safe operation.

In September of this year, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov signed a co-op agreement for construction of a nuclear power plant in the country. The first atomic power station in Uzbekistan will be built jointly with the State Corporation “Rosatom”. The project is planned to be completed by 2028. The NPP consists of two blocks with a capacity of 2.4 GW.
