Uzbekistan moving to full cotton processing
An open dialogue titled on “Uzbekistan’s textile industry: an analysis of the results of the year and new challenges” was held at the International Press Club with the participation of the leaders of “Uztuqimachiliksanoat” (Uzbekistan Textile Industry) Association.
As per the words of the event organizers, the textile, clothing and knitwear industries are strategically important and rapidly developing sectors of the Uzbek economy.
Now the main task of the sector is to make cotton processing the top priority.
During the session it was stressed that in order to develop the textile industry, foreign and joint ventures on production of yarn were created and equipped with modern technologies. New industrial enterprises mastered production of around 80 types of products. ISO and EKO systems have been implemented by over 70% of textile enterprises.
Furthermore, the attendees of the event thoroughly analyzed the problems of the textile industry, exchanged views on issues of interest to entrepreneurs and considered shortcomings regarding the potential of personnel.
