Court trials to be broadcast online in Uzbekistan
On January 16, the Mirzo Ulugbek district criminal court of Tashkent city held a mobile meeting at the academic lyceum “International House Tashkent” to discuss the prevention of crime, combating crime, raising legal literacy among the population, as well as study and resolve their problems.
Reportedly, in 2018, Tashkent city courts reduced the number of offenses to 49%, and the number of defendants – 36.8%.
“Additionally, in cooperation with the TV channel “Tashkent”, every 15 days the program “Odil sudlov” (“Fair prosecution”) is running with the participation of district court heads in order to improve the judicial system,” the chairman of the Tashkent city criminal court Bakhtiyor Islamov says.
Total 5,196 appeals were received through virtual reception of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, “Public reception” and “Trust phone” of the General Prosecutor's Office. Currently, their number is reduced by 2629. It is worth noting that 292 appeals were satisfied, 1457 were provided with legal explanations and 290 citizens expressed their gratitude and acknowledgements.
“The main news is that now all courts have joined the Supreme Court's corporate network. This has provided the opportunity to monitor and streamline the court processes online. Starting from October 1 of last year, a system of automatic distribution tasks among judges has been launched. Presently, all conditions have been created to broadcast online court trials in Yashnobod, Yakkasaroy and Chilonzor districts. It will ensure transparency and openness of courts,” Mr. Islamov said.
Participants of the event were briefed on Criminal, Administrative responsibilities, Civil liabilities and rights, including a range of actual issues. The attendees received answers to their questions in the context of their interest and circumstances that they encountered.
