Number of Uzbek people going abroad doubled in 2018
The number of Uzbek citizens who went abroad doubled in 2018, Kun.uz correspondent reports citing data from the State Statistics Committee.
For example, if in 2017, 6.8 million people wended their way abroad, in 2018, 13.8 million people departed. Of these 57.8% (over 8 million) are men, and 42.2% (5.8 million) are women.
The number of citizens of the republic who left for the CIS countries reached 13.3 million people, which amounted to 96.2% of their total number, to foreign countries - 530.6 thousand people (3.8% of their total number).
Uzbek citizens departed mainly for Kazakhstan - 51.6% (7.1 million people), Kyrgyzstan - 23.1%, (3.1 million) and Russia - 8.5% (1.1 million) in the CIS space. In foreign countries, the largest outflow was observed in South Korea (79.7 thousand people), China, the USA and Germany.
For information, 57.6% people visited their relatives, 2.9% went abroad for tourist purposes, 0.8% sought treatment and the remaining 38.7% pursued other goals.
