WPS company head arrested for attempting to bribe senior investigator of prosecutor's office

On March 9, a senior investigator of the prosecutor's office in Namangan region addressed the regional prosecutor, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

In his report, he mentioned that the head of the company WPS offered him $10,000 as a bribe. In exchange, the employee of the prosecutor’s office was supposed to exempt several people related to the criminal case against officials of the enterprises “MK”, “NK” and “SM” from liability. The entrepreneur said that he was ready to take responsibility for all criminal actions on himself.

In the course of the operational event conducted on the basis of this report, on March 10, 2019, the head of the LLC WPS was detained with material evidence while giving $10,000 as a bribe to the law enforcement officer in his office.

On this fact, a criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under paragraph “b”, Part 2 of Article 211 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Investigative actions are underway.
