Shavkat Mirziyoyev expresses condolences to Governor General of New Zealand
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a message to the Governor General of New Zealand, Patsy Reddy, in connection with numerous human victims as a result of terrorist acts in the city of Christchurch, the presidential press service reported.
The head of our state expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to the families and friends of the victims, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
It should be noted that mass shootings at two mosques full of worshippers attending Friday prayers killed 49 people on what the prime minister called "one of New Zealand's darkest days," as authorities charged one person, detained three others and defused explosive devices in what appeared to be a carefully planned attack.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the events in Christchurch represented "an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence" and acknowledged many of those affected may be migrants and refugees. In addition to the dead, authorities said at least 48 people were injured and being treated for gunshot wounds.
