Tashkent to host the third sub-regional training for Central Asian trainers 

On April 8-12, 2019, Tashkent will host the Third Sub-regional training for Central Asian trainers on the topic “Strengthening the implementation of the Convention for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage”.

The training “Strengthening the implementation of the Convention for securing intangible cultural heritage” will be conducted by international experts. It is a part of the UNESCO Global Program for capacity building in the field of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, and will train trainers familiar with the specifics of each Central Asian country, the organization’s office in Tashkent said.

Also, the goal of the training trainers is to strengthen interaction and expand the capacities of Central Asian countries in implementing the UNESCO Convention for safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage. The training will review and discuss further capacity building in Central Asia.

The training participants are specialists and experts in the field of intangible cultural heritage from four countries of Central Asia – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The UNESCO Representative list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity includes Traditional music “Shashmakom” (2008), Aytys/Aytysh, the art of improvisation (2015), Traditional knowledge and skills of making Kyrgyz and Kazakh yurts (Turkic nomadic peoples, 2014), Askiya – the art of wittiness (2014), Navruz (2016), the traditional equestrian game kok-boru and the traditional Kazakh games in Asyki (2017), Chakan, the art of embroidery (2018) and others.
