Passenger train derailed due to landslide in Kashkadarya
In Kashkadarya region, a passenger train overturned due to a landslide.
As the press service of the JSC Uzbekistan Railways reported Kun.uz, on April 30 at 21:25, at 103 km (8 km far from the Akrabat station) of the “Tashguzar – Baysun – Kumkurgan” mountain railway, in the direction of the train movement at the railway section “Akrabat – Chashmaikhafizon” in the Kashkadarya region, a landslide occurred.
The incident happened during the passage of the “Saryasiya – Tashkent” passenger train No.081. It blocked the movement of 3 cars.
“Thanks to the timely and coordinated actions of the train crew, the passengers were transferred to the remaining train cars. None of the passengers was injured. Personal belongings, documents have been delivered and handed over to their owners,” the company's representatives noted.
According to the company’s press service, at 21:10 train No.081 with all passengers arrived safely at the Dekhkanabad station.
“A full technical inspection was carried out on the spot, and two additional passenger cars were attached to the train for additional accommodation of passengers. The “Saryasiya – Tashkent” passenger train safely reached its destination,” the press service said.
Reportedly, at present the railway in this section has been restored as a result of measures taken. Organizing transportation of freight and passenger wagons is carried out in a regular mode. The point of landslide is controlled by the relevant specialists of the JSC Uzbekistan Railways.
