Tashkent-Samarkand toll road to be commissioned by the end of 2023
Finance Ministry hosted a meeting with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti, the press service of the ministry said.
The primary focus of the talks was public-private partnership. In particular, the importance of further privatization of state enterprises and banks, as well as the acceleration of the project to build a toll road Tashkent-Samarkand until 2023 was noted during the meeting.
As it was reported earlier, the construction of the first toll road in Uzbekistan is planned to begin at the end of 2019. It will link Tashkent and Samarkand.
The cost of the project is still being clarified, but in April it was reported that a consortium of companies Cengiz Enerji Sanayii ve Ticaret A.S., Kalen Enerji and Kolin (Turkey) would act as a private partner.
Negotiations on the terms of the agreements on public-private partnerships were scheduled for June, the signing of agreements - for July.
