Uzbekistan ratifies Protocol to the Convention on Forced Labor
Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Law “On Ratification of the Protocol to Convention 29 of the International Labor Organization on Forced Labor, 1930,” the Justice Ministry said.
It should be recalled that the protocol to this Convention was adopted on June 11, 2014 in Geneva.
The Convention itself was ratified by the August 30, 1997 resolution of Oliy Majlis.
The ILO Convention envisages that the national policy of the states adopting the document should prohibit forced or compulsory labor.
In accordance with the convention, the term “forced or compulsory labor” means any work or service required from any person under threat of any punishment and for which this person did not voluntarily offer his/her services.
