Import of foreign-made cars declining 

In January-June 2019, Uzbekistan imported passenger cars for $178.3 million, follows from the State Statistics Committee data.

It shows a decline in the pace of import compared to last year. 

It should be noted that at the beginning of the year, the volume of foreign-made car imports was almost 4 times higher than the last year’s figure, at the beginning of spring - 2.2 times. Now it has declined to 67%. Thus, in June, the import of foreign cars amounted to $24 million.

The overall increase in imports of foreign automobiles can be attributed to the fact that in January, the import of expensive foreign cars was simplified - if a car costs $40,000 or more and not more than two years have passed since its release, then a zero duty rate is applied to it.
