Shavkat Mirziyoyev signs a document on demolition and compensation
Starting from August 5, Uzbekistan will introduce a new mechanism for demolition of buildings. This is stated in the presidential decree.
According to the document, at the first stage, administrations at places will submit materials to the Cabinet of Ministers about objects that are supposed to be demolished. At the second stage, an opinion is prepared on the requirements of urban planning and financial calculations. At the last stage, these conclusions are submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision making.
Additionally, in accordance with the abovementioned resolution, the relevant departments were instructed to prepare a bill. This document should strengthen the responsibility of officials that cause harm to owners.
The Cabinet of Ministers is instructed to adopt a resolution taking into account the interests of all participants in the process. In particular, before seizing the land, the parties (administration and owner) must sign a written agreement on compensation.
Also, when choosing a site for the construction of new buildings, first of all, administrations should choose abandoned land plots that no one uses, as well as old and emergency buildings.
The document emphasized that compensation should be calculated based on market prices.
