Why the President is not criticized in Uzbekistan?
The head of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications Komil Allamjonov, during an interview with blogger Kirill Altman, told why no one criticizes the President in Uzbekistan.
“The question – why the president is not criticized – is not for me. So, there is no reason. We have given all the rights and opportunities,” he said.
The blogger asked why Allamjonov himself does not criticize the President. He replied that he likes everything.
Allamjonov also assessed the current state of freedom of speech in the country.
“There are two sides: if you look from the side of journalism, then there is not enough experience. Most journalists lack knowledge. If we look back, over the past 25 years journalism as a profession was not a prestigious job. Censorship, control over journalists and the media were so harsh, and graduates of the journalism faculty pursued career in other spheres. And it’s nice that now they are returning to their profession,” he said.
