Fiat plans to produce cars in Uzbekistan
The Italian-American automobile concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is considering the possibility of manufacturing cars in Uzbekistan. This is reported by Tahlilnoma TV program with reference to the vice president of the company Yusef Hajas.
“Against the background of the measures taken by Uzbekistan to diversify and increase the technological level of the auto industry, the FCA is interested in establishing industrial cooperation by creating a car manufacturing enterprise in the republic with the attraction of foreign investment,” Hajas said.
He suggested using the Tofas project implemented by FCA in Turkey as a guideline for creating a joint venture in Uzbekistan
According to him, Uzbekistan is considered as a preferred place for the creation of the second enterprise for the production of Tipo, Fiorino and Doblo models under the Fiat brand.
In addition, by 2021, Tofas plans to begin production of crossovers and is working on the development of a pickup model, which in the future can also be produced in Uzbekistan.
