Uzbekistan reinforces responsibility for attracting to forced labor
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Law “On amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, the Justice Ministry reports.
In accordance with the law:
- the marriage age for men and women is set at 18 years old (today it is 17 for women);
- responsibility for administrative coercion to work, which entails the imposition of a fine in the amount of ten to thirty MMW (today from one to three times) has been reinforced. Repeated commission of this offense shall be sanctioned by a fine of thirty to one hundred times the MMW.
Involvement of a minor in forced labor entails the imposition of a fine of thirty to fifty times the MMW (today five to fifteen times), the repeated commission of this offense entails the imposition of a fine of fifty to one hundred times the MMW.
In addition, it was established that repeated non-fulfillment after imposing an administrative penalty of the obligation to pay temporary unemployment, pregnancy and childbirth benefits in the amounts established by law, shall be sanctioned by a fine in the amount of fifteen to thirty times the MMW.
This law comes into force from the date of its official publication.
The part of the law on the establishment of marriage age shall enter into force on September 1, 2019.
