Uzbekistan needs $4.5 billion to bring water supply coverage to 98%
Uzbekistan needs to invest $4.5 billion to bring water supply coverage to 98% in cities and 85% in villages. This was reported at a meeting with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The level of centralized provision of clean drinking water in the country is 68%, in Karakalpakstan this indicator reached only 52%, in Bukhara region – 53%, in Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya – 54%, in Khorezm region – 56%. At the meeting, it was noted that the profitability of water supply enterprises in Tashkent is 7%, in Andijan and Kashkadarya regions - 6%, in Navoi - 3%.
27 thousand kilometers or 38% of water supply networks are in emergency condition, 2 thousand or 20% of pumps are out of order.
The head of state pointed out the need for cardinal acceleration of work to solve these and similar problems. According to estimates, in order to bring the water supply coverage to 98% in cities and 85% in villages, and the sewage system to 31% by 2030, $4.5 billion is needed.
