Egypt ready to assist Uzbekistan in joining WTO
On September 15, as part of their stay in Cairo, the delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Dilshod Akhatov, held bilateral meetings with the First Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of Egypt Ahmed Antar and Deputy Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Reda Bebars.
According to the press service of the MFA, during the talks, practical issues of enhancing the interaction of the two countries in trade, economic, investment and industrial spheres were considered.
The parties discussed the agenda of the Uzbekistan-Egypt Intergovernmental Commission’s 7th meeting, issues of holding a business forum and establishing the Business Council of Entrepreneurs of the two countries.
The Egyptian side proposed using the opportunities provided by the current free trade regime of Egypt with the countries of Africa and the Middle East to increase the export of Uzbek products.
In addition, Egypt, as the founder of the GATT/WTO international trading system, is ready to provide all possible assistance in the issue of Uzbekistan’s accession to the organization.
The delegation of Uzbekistan also took part in the scientific-practical conference on the theme “Uzbekistan-Egypt: prospects for economic cooperation”.
