Gulnara Karimova taken in unknown direction from Yashnabad district court - Gregoire Mangeat

On September 16, Gulnara Karimova was taken from the Yashnobod district court in unknown direction, her Swiss attorney Gregoire Mangeat said on Twitter.

“Gulnara Karimova is taken from Yashnobod District Court to an unknown place tonight. Uzbek lawyer seems to have been informed only today about this hearing. Her daughter was not granted access to the courtroom. No authorization granted to me either despite the formal request filed two weeks ago,” Mangeat writes.

It should be reminded that in August, Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan instigated criminal probes against Gulnara Karimova on embezzlement of public funds and signing deals contrary to the interests of the republic, appropriating property in large scale.

As noted by the press service of the PGO, Gulnara Karimova, in collusion with other persons, acquired at a lower cost the state-owned blocks of shares at JSCs Kuvasaysement and Bekabadsement. Then, sold them to foreign entrepreneurs and patronized their subsequent illegal activities, which caused damage to the interests of Uzbekistan in large scale.
