Import of foreign-made cars exceeds $233 million
In January-August, Uzbekistan imported cars for $233.8 million, the State Statistics Committee reports.
It was noted that this figure is more by 74.7% than in the same period last year.
In general, the growth against the previous year is slowly recovering. For example, at the beginning of the year import of foreign cars was almost 4 times higher than last year, and in spring - 2.2 times. In early summer, it declined to 67% but in August it again increased and reached the mark of 72%.
The overall increase in imports of foreign automobiles can be attributed to the fact that in January, the procedure for importing expensive foreign cars was simplified - if a car costs $40,000 or more and not more than two years have passed since its release, then a zero duty rate is applied to it.
In addition, customs duties and excise tax on the import of electric cars were set at zero rate.
