ADB President Takehiko Nakao may visit Uzbekistan to attend Ministerial Conference on CAREC
On the sidelines of the IMF/World Bank Annual Meeting, the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov held talks with the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Shixin Chen, the ministerial press service said.
The meeting was dedicated to discussing a strategic partnership between the parties, covering such priority areas as health, education, water and irrigation management, the agricultural sector, the construction and reconstruction of water supply and sanitation, energy and the financial sector.
The bank management noted the significant progress achieved in the implementation of affordable housing programs, improving the quality of housing and communal services, construction and electrification of railways and highways and welcomed the transition to systemic cooperation through the adoption of the Partnership Strategy and the Country Business Plan for 2019 -2021.
Particular attention was paid to the activities of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC), which is chaired by Uzbekistan this year. Prospects for participation of ADB President Takehiko Nakao in the Ministerial Conference on CAREC in November this year was considered.
Following the meeting, the parties identified promising areas for further expansion of cooperation and agreed to make joint efforts to ensure the effectiveness of the partnership.
