Visa, CNH Industrial, John Deere ready to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan
On October 21, as part of his stay in Washington, the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov held a series of meetings with heads of leading American companies such as Visa, CNH Industrial, John Deere and others to discuss opportunities for establishing and expanding investment as well as trade-economic cooperation.
During the talks with the Vice-President of Visa, Salvador Perez-Galindo, prospects for expanding the presence of this payment system in Uzbekistan were considered. The parties noted that this will strengthen the online payment infrastructure in the country and harmoniously integrate the national banking and financial system into the global economic space. In this regard, possible formats of interaction were studied with the aim of promoting this initiative and finding points of mutual benefit and interests.
The head of CNH Industrial, the largest manufacturer of agricultural, civil, military and specialized equipment, already having a number of joint ventures in Uzbekistan, stressed the prospects for expanding production localization, covering new market segments and increasing exports to third countries.
A productive dialogue was also held with the Vice-President of John Deere, during which the sides positively noted the opening of the company’s Training Center at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation, which will systematically increase the level of qualification of domestic specialists in the field of agriculture.
The issue on creating a joint venture for the production of agricultural machinery and the development of promising financial mechanisms that would facilitate the access of Uzbek farmers to the procurement of high-quality agricultural equipment was also considered at the meeting.
Following the results of each negotiation, the parties agreed to develop specific action plans and strengthen cooperation.
