Advertising of breast-milk substitute products banned in Uzbekistan
Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Law “On support of breastfeeding and food requirements for infants and young children”.
In accordance with the document, health authorities and other organizations are currently promoting breastfeeding.
The Law envisages establishment of special places at state institutions and organizations, in particular, at bus stops, airports and railway stations, cultural and entertainment institutions, to create conditions for breastfeeding.
Also, advertising of breast-milk substitutes for infants and young children is now prohibited. Any information about breast-milk substitute products should contain an indication of the benefits and superiority of breast milk.
In addition, produced and imported food products for infants and young children, intended for sale on the territory of the republic, must be certified and meet the requirements of quality and safety.
