CIS member states approve Draft Strategy for Development of Cooperation in the field of Tourism for 2021-2030
On October 23-24, 2019, an expert group meeting was held at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk to finalize and agree on a draft Strategy for Development of Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the field of tourism for 2021-2030. The meeting was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth.
The decision to develop this project and submit it to the Council of Government Heads in the prescribed manner was taken at a meeting of the CIS Tourism Council in Samarkand on July 9-10.
It is noted that the Strategy is based on the idea that tourism is not only the most promising, dynamically developing sector of the economy, but also a powerful factor in enhancing international cooperation, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding, as well as mutual cultural enrichment of the peoples of the Commonwealth. The objectives of the Strategy are to increase the tourist flow in the CIS member states and the economic contribution of tourism to the socio-economic development of each country, to maintain, strengthen, preserve and develop national unique cultural traditions and attractions.
During the meeting, experts from the CIS countries finalized and agreed, taking into account comments received from the states, the draft Strategy for Development of Cooperation in the Field of Tourism for 2021-2030.
All materials of the expert meeting will be sent to the CIS countries for internal approval.
