A candidate for deputy brought to administrative responsibility for attempting to entice voters with discounted flour and oil

Abror Akhmedov, a candidate for the Tashkent city council from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, has been brought to administrative responsibility for violating the Electoral Code, as he campaigned by selling low-cost oil to entice voters.

According to Article 44 of the Electoral Code, candidates for deputy are not allowed to combine campaign with the provision of goods and services to voters on preferential terms. However, Akhmedov, a candidate from the 38th Olmazor constituency for the Tashkent City Council of People’s Deputies, attended the fairs held on December 15-16 at the mahallas “Katta Chilonzor-1” and “Katta Chilonzor-2”. He met with voters and campaigned. The candidate also sold voters flour and oil products at a discounted rate through the vitrines with the “UzLiDeP” logo.

The candidate for deputy Abror Akhmedov committed administrative offenses, envisaged by Article 51-5 of the Administrative Responsibility Code of Uzbekistan.

In the fact of violation, the Tashkent city prosecutor’s office filed a case against Abror Akhmedov under Article 51-5 of the Administrative Responsibility Code and forwarded the collected documents to the Chilanzar district court on administrative cases for consideration,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
