Latvia ready to consider possibilities of expanding practical cooperation with Uzbekistan for “Erasmus +” program
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov met in Riga with the Minister for Education and Science of Latvia Ilga Šuplinska, the MFA reports.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for further building up cooperation in the field of education, strengthening the regulatory framework for interaction, improving the quality of student exchanges, and deepening collaboration through inter-university partnerships.
Ilga Šuplinska positively assessed the achieved level of bilateral cooperation in the field of education. It was especially noted that Uzbekistan ranks second in the number of foreign students studying in Latvian higher education institutions. She separately emphasized the possibility of further expanding the coverage of the European Union’s educational grant program “Erasmus +”, which is open for participation by Uzbek youth.
Following the talks, the sides voiced readiness to accelerate the issue of signing an intergovernmental agreement on science and education, exchange of information on the possibilities of expanding practical cooperation within the framework of the “Erasmus +” program.
