Certain undergraduate programs to run for three years – Ministry comments

Starting from this academic year, the duration of education in 6 pedagogical directions will be 3 years for undergraduate students. Later, the practice will be applied to other directions as well.

This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his address to the parliament on January 24.

After that, Kun.uz correspondent contacted Farkhod Babashev, the head of the press service of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, to clarify the announcement. 

According to him, starting from the academic year 2020/2021, the period of education in the following directions for undergraduate programs will be three years:

- musical education;
- physical culture;
- technological education;
- pre-conscription military training;
- fine arts and engineering graphics;
- physical education and sports in preschool and primary education.

An appropriate document (presidential or government decision) is expected to be adopted soon.

“It should be added that the new procedure will only apply to those applicants who will be admitted to universities in 2020.

Students, who currently study in these directions, have to complete a 4-year program,” Farkhod Babashev said.
