Eight people killed, several dozens injured in mass disorders in Kazakhstan near border with Kyrgyzstan
On February 7, in the villages of Masanchi and Sortobe, Kordai district, Jambyl region of Kazakhstan, a brawl and attacks on police officers occurred, AKIpress writes.

It is noted that the conflict started between Kazakhs and Dunghans.
To discuss the situation in Kordai district, a briefing was held today in Nur-Sultan. Kazakh Minister of Internal Affairs Yerlan Turgumbaev, who attended the event, said the police received a report at 7.00 p.m. on February 7 that a mob of around 70 aggressive villagers gathered on the suburb of the village in Kordai district, who started a brawl “on hooligan motives”.

When the police officers arrived at the scene, eyewitnesses and provocateurs were recording video of the events.
“They called citizens for unlawful actions via social media. That led to escalation of the conflict and more people joining the brawl. Around 300 arrived from the neighboring villages in the result,” Turgumbaev said.
More than 30 houses, 15 stores and 23 cars were damaged. 47 people were detained by the police, eight were killed and several dozens were injured in the disorders.
The situation in Kordai district has stabilized, the Interior Minister said.
