Eleven Uzbek citizens, stuck at the Iranian border, ask for help from Shavkat Mirziyoyev
Recently, social networks have disseminated a video message of 11 Uzbek citizens, who were remaining at the border post between Iran and Turkmenistan. The video message was addressed to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In the video footage, a group of Uzbek citizens, engaged in cross-border transportation, complained that due to the coronavirus infection the state borders were closed and they were left inside the terminal at the “Lutfabad” customs post in Iran since February 23. They had no possibility of returning to their country. Their appeal to the relevant consular offices was left unanswered.
The drivers also said in their address that the infected area of Iran was at a thousand kilometers distance from where they were located, and none of the citizens were infected with the virus.
The citizens asked the President for practical help in returning home.
So far, neither the Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor the Ministry of Transport has commented on the incident.
Kun.uz will try to contact the relevant ministries and seek information on this matter.
