Russia overtakes China as Uzbekistan’s main trading partner
China has ceased to be - for the first time since 2016 -- the main trading partner of Uzbekistan, follows from the data of the State Statistics Committee.
Trade with China began to decline back in January, but then the country held first place due to imports. According to the results of January-March, the leadership passed to Russia.
In total, foreign trade in the Q1 amounted to $8.14 billion, which is $924 million less compared to the same period last year. Imports decreased by $0.5 billion, exports - by$ 0.4 billion.
The main trading partner was Russia with a share of 16.9% ($1.37 billion, of which $455.6 million is export, $920.9 million is import). In second place is China with a share of 16.8% ($1.36 billion: $400.8 million - export, $963.5 million - import). Kazakhstan is in third place with an 8.3% share ($675.4 million: $188.2 million - export, $487.2 million - import).
