Mirziyoyev: We should gradually ease lockdown restrictions
On May 5, at a videoconference meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev separately highlighted the ongoing work in the country to combat the coronavirus infection.
“We all see and observe how humanity is fighting both the coronavirus and the economic crisis. A growing number of countries are gradually softening quarantine measures to overcome the difficult situation. Glory to God Almighty, today the epidemiological situation in Uzbekistan is stabilizing,” the head of state said.
Mirziyoyev noted that the number of recovered is increasing rapidly.
All necessary measures are being taken to treat patients remaining in hospitals, recover their health and return them to their families.
“All this is not easy. To date, we have directed 2 trillion 250 billion soums from the Anti-Crisis Fund and $500 million from funds of international financial institutions for these purposes. No one knows how long the pandemic will last. Therefore, no matter how difficult it may be, we must learn to work and live in such a condition, complying with all the set requirements,” said Mirziyoyev.
The head of state emphasized that taking advantage of the fact that “the epidemiological situation has changed for the better, the country should gradually weaken the quarantine measures.”
“These restrictions have a huge negative impact on economic development and the life of the population. In this regard, we have taken the first steps to soften quarantine requirements in order to create convenience for our people, especially for farmers and entrepreneurs,” the head of state concluded.
