Head of Andijan regional transport department detained while taking a bribe

The head of the Andijan regional transport department M. A. was detained while taking a bribe, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told Kun.uz.

Reportedly, the Shahrikhan district Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office conducted an operational event, in response to a request from citizen K. K, with the participation of employees of SSS and DIA.

“It was identified that citizen K. provided transportation services to the population without a special permit. As a result, his Nexia car was detained. The head of the Andijan regional transport department M. A. promised him not to draw up an administrative protocol on this fact and release his car from the penalty area in exchange for some financial “assistance”. The official was caught with material evidence at the time of receiving a bribe in the amount of 1 million soums,” the report reads.

On this fact, a criminal case has been filed under the relevant article of the Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
