Shavkat Mirziyoyev pays tribute to the memory of Islam Karimov in Tashkent

On September 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a wreath at the statue of the First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and paid tribute to his bright memory.

In accordance with the presidential decree of January 25, 2017, September 2 is celebrated as the Day of Remembrance of the First President.

In his speech dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the country’s independence, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the achievement of state independence under the leadership of Islam Karimov was an important event that made the centuries-old dream come true.

Surahs from the Holy Quran were recited at the Islam Karimov Memorial Complex.

Representatives of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the Presidential Administration, the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and departments, and residents of the capital also laid flowers at the monument.

Similar ceremonies were also held in Samarkand and Karshi.
