Prosecutor General’s Office refuses to file a case against UzAuto Motors
The Prosecutor General’s Office refused to prosecute UzAuto Motors.
On August 21, several deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis sent a parliamentary request to the Prosecutor General and the head of the Anti-Corruption Agency to study the activities of UzAuto Motors.
At that time, the people’s representatives submitted a request for a separate examination of the information and documents obtained as a result of the inspection carried out by the Antimonopoly Committee within its powers at UzAuto Motors, related to the detection of violations of relevant legislation, acts of corruption and violations of consumer rights.
The document was signed by deputies Rasul Kusherbayev, Doniyor Ganiyev, Nodir Jumayev, Bekmirza Eshmurzayev, Zafar Jalolov and Anvarkhon Temirov.
According to Deputy Rasul Kusherbayev, on November 4, they received a corresponding reply for the request. The supervisory authority noted that they didn’t find any evidence of a violation of the legislation and the Prosecutor General’s Office refused to initiate criminal proceedings against UzAuto Motors.
It was previously reported that at the end of July, the Antimonopoly Committee filed a case against UzAuto Motors. Then, several deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis sent a parliamentary request to the chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee with a request to study the activities of UzAuto Motors and the company’s compliance with the law “On competition”.
On August 19, the Antimonopoly Committee considered the case against UzAuto Motors for violating the law “On competition”. Following the inspection, UzAuto Motors was obliged to return millions of soums to clients who purchased Spark, Nexia, Cobalt, Gentra and Damas cars at inflated prices.
Later, UzAuto Motors stated that the company would not lower the price of cars.
On October 30, the Tashkent city administrative court held a trial to consider the suit of UzAuto Motors on invalidating the decision of the Special Commission under the Antimonopoly Committee. The court’s verdict was in favor of UzAuto Motors and the commission’s decision was annulled.
