5 men attempt to rob a train loaded with coal near Tashkent
On November 17, a 50-wagon freight train loaded with coal made a stop at the Ablyk railway station to detach 4 wagons with coal belonging to the Angren branch of the Almalyk mining and metallurgical combine.
After the wagons were detached, the main train continued its journey. The detached wagons, meanwhile, were attached to the locomotive and were taken to the delivery point. However, five unknown persons stealthily attacked the train carriages and tried to illegally unload coal while the wagons were still moving, JSC Uzbekistan Railways reported.
The officer of the detachment accompanying this freight train reacted promptly by stopping the locomotive and trying to catch the attackers. However, the perpetrators managed to escape the scene of the crime.
Investigations to identify these persons are underway. “The intruders will be held accountable for their illegal actions,” the company said.
