Uzbekistan ranks 146th in Corruption Perceptions Index
Compared to last year, the republic was able to improve its position by seven places.
Transparency International, an international non-governmental anti-corruption organization, has published its 2020 report.
The study authors note that with an average of 36 points, the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia ranks next to last – the region’s vulnerability to corruption is exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Uzbekistan ranked 146th out of 179. Last year, the country was in 153rd place, in 2017, it occupied the 157th line and in 2016 – 156th.
The lack of transparency in countering the spread of COVID-19 in the region underscores the importance of using checks and balances and strengthening the integrity system.
The first place was shared by New Zealand and Denmark. Finland, Switzerland, Singapore and Sweden follow them. The worst performers are Somalia, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
