Iceland appoints new Ambassador to Uzbekistan
On February 16, Foreign Affairs Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland with residence in Moscow, Árni Þór Sigurðsson.
According to the MFA press service, accepting his credentials, the Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a high and responsible post and wished him successful work.
“During the conversation, the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for further cooperation, as well as interaction within the framework of international organizations were discussed. Proposals were considered to build up trade, economic and investment ties, including the establishment of direct contacts between business circles, the implementation of joint projects in the field of renewable energy,” the report says.
In addition, the parties expressed interest in the development of inter-parliamentary relations, the legal framework of bilateral contacts, interaction in the field of education and training, cooperation in the tourism sphere.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
