Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the US proposes opening a diplomatic mission in Canada
At the extended meeting of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism, the head of the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan to the United States Javlon Vakhobov briefed on the work done and future plans.
During his speech, Vakhobov proposed opening a diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Canada.
“Uzbekistan has a diplomatic mission only in Washington. I think it is wrong to solve all the problems from here. We have submitted this proposal to Tashkent and this issue is currently being considered. I would be very grateful if the Senate also supported this proposal.
Canada is a country with huge potential. It would be appropriate to pay special attention to the G20 and G7 countries,” Javlon Vakhobov said.
For information, the foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the United States amounted to $415 million in 2018, $603.9 million – in 2019, and $275.1 million – in 2020.
Uzbekistan exported $6.5 million worth of goods to Canada in 2019. This figure reached $142.1 million in 2020.
