Uzbekistan, Qatar to develop trade relations, hold joint economic events

At the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of developing trade relations, implementing industrial cooperation projects, as well as holding joint economic events.
During the conversation, the Qatari side was provided with extensive information about the large-scale economic reforms being carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the creation of favorable conditions for investment activities, including in free economic zones, and the privatization of state-owned enterprises.
Confirming the existence of a huge potential for the development of cooperation, the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar stressed the need to intensify trade relations and investment interaction in all sectors of the economy of mutual interest.
The Qatari side expressed interest in working out joint investment projects, first of all, for the production of foodstuffs and ensuring food security, participation in the development of the tourism infrastructure of Uzbekistan.
During the talks, agreements were reached on preparations for a meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, on intensifying direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries.
