Kashkadarya khokim Zoir Mirzayev contracts coronavirus

Khokim of Kashkadarya region Zoir Mirzayev has tested positive for COVID-19, reports the press secretary of the regional administration Akhror Sadikov.

“Everyone knows that number of infected is rising. I wish our head of the region quick recovery and prompt return to his duties,” he said.

In July 2020, it was announced that the former chairman of Jokargy Kenes of Karakalpakstan Musa Yerniyazov and the khokim of Surkhandarya region Tura Bobolov contracted the coronavirus infection. Musa Yerniyazov soon passed away, while Tura Bobolov returned to his duties after recovery.

Deputy Prime Minister Uktam Barnoyev and khokim of Bukhara region Karim Kamolov also contracted the infection. Later, it was reported that both have died from complications.
