Government officials to be banned from having accounts and property abroad
In addition, now civil servants will be punished for refusing to submit a declaration and making deliberately false information.
Uzbekistan is going to introduce compulsory income declaration of civil servants, follows from the presidential decree “On measures to create an environment of uncompromising attitude to corruption, a sharp reduction in corruption factors in state and public administration and expanding public participation in this direction”.
“From January 1, 2022, Uzbekistan is introducing a system of compulsory declaration of income and property of civil servants, heads and deputies of state enterprises and institutions with a state share of over 50%, as well as their spouses and minor children,” the Ministry of Justice explained.
If a civil servant refuses to submit a declaration or introduces deliberately false information, then this will become the basis for dismissal from the civil service and prosecution.
Reportedly, from January 1, 2022, civil servants will be prohibited from opening and owning accounts, keeping money, owning real estate and other property outside Uzbekistan.
Earlier, the government of the republic introduced a ban from August 1 for officials to buy service cars more expensive than 490 million soums. Cars exceeding this value will be offered for sale.
In addition, from July 1, government agencies of the country are required to publish in the public domain the expense for business trips of employees and receptions of foreign guests.
