Uzbek CEC invites SCO observer mission to presidential elections
Vladimir Norov emphasized that despite the pandemic, the world community seeks democratic and safe elections and the active participation of all sectors of society, Sputnik news agency informs.
The head of the CEC of Uzbekistan invited the SCO mission, led by its Secretary General Vladimir Norov, to take part in the upcoming presidential election as international observers, the press service of the Central Election Company reported.
At the same time, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizamkhojayev and Secretary General of the SCO Vladimir Norov agreed on participation of Uzbek representatives in the mission of the SCO member states in the parliamentary and presidential elections.
During the discussion, Norov emphasized that, despite the pandemic, the world community seeks democratic and safe elections and the active participation of all sectors of society.
The election campaign in Uzbekistan will begin at the end of July, and works on its organization is already underway, the press secretary of the president reported a few weeks ago.
“We have repeatedly received the mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. We are ready to hold the election in accordance with the most advanced world standards.”
In February of this year, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law on amendments to legislation that deferred the presidential elections from the first Sunday of the third decade of December to the first Sunday of the third decade of October (October 24 in 2021).
