Rosselkhoznadzor places import restrictions on tomatoes and peppers from Bukhara
Since July 15, the Rosselkhoznadzor has been introducing temporary restrictions on the import of tomato fruits and peppers into Russia from the Bukhara region.
“The restriction of imports is caused by detection of tomato brown fruit virus (ToBRFV) in tomatoes imported from this region. Restrictions are introduced based on the Federal Law of 21.07.2014 No. 206-FZ “On Plant Quarantine” and the VII International Convention on Plant Quarantine and Protection,” the Federal Service reported in a statement.
Shipments organized before July 15 are allowed to enter Russia only following a phytosanitary examination.
Since July 7, 2021, the tomato brown fruit virus has been included in the list of quarantine objects for Russia and all EAEU countries.
The disease leads to a decrease in yields by 70-80%, in some cases leads to a complete loss of crops in greenhouses. The virus spreads with fruits, seeds and seedlings.
