Kyrgyz Ambassador speaks about works on demarcation of state border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan 

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have already agreed on more than 94% of the common border, Kyrgyz Ambassador to Uzbekistan Ibragim Junusov said on Wednesday.

According to him, now “the remaining areas that need to be agreed on is 6%.”

The diplomat recalled that the heads of both republics set a task for the relevant ministries to increase the annual trade turnover to $1 billion with the prospect of reaching $2 billion in the future.

“Despite the pandemic, in 2020, trade between the two countries increased by 10% compared to 2019, reaching a record $903 million, and in January-June this year it amounted to $508 million,” Junusov said.

The Kyrgyz ambassador added that the strategic nature of the bilateral ties of both countries meets the vital and long-term national interests of the two states, and will also serve as a key factor in ensuring peace, stability and security in Central Asia.
