Uzbekistan exempts import of citrus fruits and bananas from customs duties

The government has adopted a resolution “On additional measures to guarantee the provision of basic food products to the population and maintain price stability in the domestic market”.

According to the document, until May 1, 2022, the following will be exempted from customs duties:

- bananas, plantains (fresh or dried)
- fresh or dried dates, figs, pineapples, avocado, guava, mango, mangosteen
- citrus fruits, fresh or dried
- fresh papaya
- fresh apples, pears and quince
- kiwi

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan plans to exempt imports and sales of meat, potatoes and frozen fish from VAT.

At the end of April this year, the President signed the law “On measures to provide the population with certain types of food products”. The document made additions to the Tax Code.

According to the decree, from May 1 to December 31, 2021, the import of vegetable oil, sunflower and flax seeds, as well as soybeans into the territory of Uzbekistan is exempt from VAT.
