Import of cell phones from Kazakhstan increases by 230 times
For 9 months, devices worth $160 million were imported from there, although Kazakhstan does not produce them.
In 2021, the supply of mobile phones from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan increased sharply, Spot reports with reference to the Kazakh edition InBusiness.
For 9 months of 2021, phones for $160.9 million arrived from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. In the same period of 2020, this figure was $0.7 million.
Over the year, Uzbekistan’s imports of phones from Kazakhstan increased 229.8 times. The publication notes that Kazakhstan does not produce telephones – this makes growth even more abnormal.
In just 9 months, trade between the two countries amounted to $2.65 billion and increased by 32%. Of this amount, $1.92 billion fell on Kazakh goods sold to Uzbekistan. In the opposite direction, goods worth $735 million were delivered.
According to the State Statistics Committee, Kazakhstan ranks fourth in the supply of phones to Uzbekistan after China, Vietnam and India. Earlier this year, it occupied the third place.
In total, in January-September, 1.9 million mobile phones were imported into the republic for $133.2 million – almost four times more than a year earlier.
